Winners Revealed at Ireland’s Inaugural Health & Fitness Awards

Iconic by name, Iconic by nature as Iconic Health Clubs based in Dublin, won not one, not two but four awards at the inaugural NUTRAMINO® Health & Fitness Awards which included the award for Group Operator of the Year as well as Gym Team of the Year for Icon Health Club in Dublin 2.
With over 400 entries from gyms, trainers, experts and health clubs nationwide, the inaugural Gala luncheon held at the Round Room, Mansion House saw 300 of Ireland’s top health and fitness professionals from all across the country celebrate the best of the best of the Irish health and fitness industry.
Fitness advocate and blogger Vogue Williams was glowing as she took the role of MC in her stride announcing winners, including; The Best Hotel Facility (sponsored by Fitdist Sports) going to the Breaffy Club & Spa in Mayo with the award for Best Local Authority/Community Health & Fitness Club (sponsored by Expert Leisure Supplies) being taken home by Coral Leisure Monaghan. With a growing focus nationally on health and wellbeing at work, the Best Corporate Health & Fitness Category (sponsored by The KeepWell Mark) was a very popular category with the title being take home by Alexion Ireland.
Shoreline Leisure in Greystones ran to first place as the NUTRAMINO® Health & Fitness Club of the Year, the highest accolade of the Awards. The Industry Contribution Award (sponsored by Ireland Active), chosen by the judging panel recognises and honours an individual’s outstanding contribution to the health & fitness industry in Ireland and abroad and the honour this year was presented to Susan Grady, CEO of K Leisure who has led by example and made positive changes to the way the industry operates and made a lasting impression on the practitioners throughout the industry.
The awards acknowledge the exceptional accomplishments in the health and fitness industry, promoting and inspiring healthy Irish communities and future health and fitness professionals. They aim to recognise the outstanding work of Instructors, Trainers, Fitness Programs, Gyms and corporate facilities.
The NUTRAMINO® People’s Choice Gym of the Year Award received a phenomenal 10,000 votes and the coveted title went to the Munster regional winner, Clonmel Park Leisure Centre, as voted for by the public. Also successful in this category were the people’s regional winners namely, 1Escape Health Club (Dublin), Gym Plus – Ashbourne (Leinster), The Breaffy Club & Spa (Connacht/Ulster).

The judging panel included Paul Byrne, Founder of BodyByrne and 6 times Irish karate champion, president of NABBA, President of the World Fitness Federation of Ireland and a regular judge of Mr. Universe. Conn McCluskey formerly CEO of Ireland Active, the national association for the leisure, health and fitness sector in Ireland and Brenda O’ Donnell, Inclusive Sport and Fitness Coordinator at CARA, formerly Director of Sport for Cerebral Palsy Sport Ireland, also sat on the judging panel.
